PenguinCube developed a unified naming strategy for Dubai Hills Estate, Emaar’s master-planned community in Dubai centred around an 18-hole championship golf course. The project focused on creating a consistent approach to naming across a diverse and evolving destination, helping establish a coherent identity across its buildings, residential communities, parks, amenities, streets and neighbourhoods.
Rather than developing names in isolation, PenguinCube created a structured naming toolkit that provides a clear, repeatable process for defining, positioning and selecting names across the development. The framework establishes the principles and considerations required to ensure that individual names respond to their location, function and character while contributing to the wider identity of Dubai Hills Estate.
The toolkit was designed to support the development over time, providing a shared methodology that can be applied as new buildings, communities and public spaces are introduced. This creates consistency across the masterplan while allowing individual destinations to develop distinct identities within the broader Dubai Hills Estate brand.
The resulting naming strategy provides Emaar with a flexible framework for managing place identity across one of Dubai’s major residential and mixed-use developments. By connecting naming with positioning, place character and the wider masterplan, PenguinCube created a systematic approach to building a cohesive and recognisable destination identity.
