King Fahd Cultural Center

PenguinCube developed a comprehensive bilingual wayfinding strategy, signage system and spatial communication framework for the King Fahd Cultural Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Black Engineering. The project focused on creating a clear and intuitive navigation experience across a complex cultural destination, connecting its architectural spaces, multi-level auditoriums and extensive outdoor grounds through a unified wayfinding system.

The wayfinding strategy was developed to respond to the different movement patterns and visitor needs within the cultural center. PenguinCube considered vehicular circulation, pedestrian routes, VIP arrivals, key entrances and cultural engagement points to establish a navigation system that supports visitors throughout their journey. Bilingual information design was integrated across the system, ensuring that wayfinding and signage remain clear and accessible to both local and international audiences.

Working within a significant civic and cultural environment, PenguinCube’s approach balanced functional navigation with the architectural and contextual character of the King Fahd Cultural Center. The signage strategy was designed to establish consistency across different scales and environments, from arrival and vehicular wayfinding through to internal circulation and identification signage.

The resulting spatial communication system creates a connected visitor experience across the cultural center, helping people understand where they are, where they need to go and how different spaces relate to one another. In collaboration with Black Engineering and the Ministry of Culture, PenguinCube translated the complexity of a large cultural venue into a structured and intuitive wayfinding framework, demonstrating its approach to bilingual wayfinding design and signage strategy for major cultural and civic destinations in Saudi Arabia.
