The final and closing event for the year round traveling art exhibition, Sharjah Biennial 13: Tamawuj.
Ashkal Alwan – The Lebanese Association for Plastic Arts, was responsible for organizing Act II in Beirut, the closing Act of Sharjah Biennial 13: Tamawuj, as well Upon a Shifting Plate – the final theme of 4 (Culinary) of the Sharjah Biennial 13: Off-site Project.
PenguinCube was tasked with combining the two events visually, which included exhibitions, talks, panels and performances, which were overlapping in time-frame, as well as representing the overarching theme of the Biennial – waves.
The result is a soothing, organic system that is easily adaptable to the plethora of applications needed for such a large scale event.
Rounds of experimentation were done first physically, and then digitally, to represent the flow, fluctuation and movement of the wave.
